Deborah Pearcey began writing Swallowed by a Jaguar as a way to heal. "I have had the story of Amber's death constantly in my mind for five years. I thought, perhaps, if I wrote it down and made it concrete, my mind would let it go a bit. I was doing it as therapy and also to remember Amber." Thus, the story of her daughter's life came to be. With extensive experience as a healthcare professional, Deborah has worked as a pharmacist, on the geriatric floor at a hospital, and at a cancer care center in Hamilton. Her professional background deeply informed her research for this memoir and her experience with Amber's death. Deborah now lives in Barrie, Ontario, with her husband, Doug, and their daughter, Molly. Through sharing Amber's story, Deborah hopes to provide insight and support to others, while continuing to honour Amber's memory. See less
