David Robert attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he published short prose and poetry in various periodicals, including The Carolina Quarterly and Surfer Magazine. David Robert attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he published short prose and poetry in various periodicals, including The Carolina Quarterly and Surfer Magazine. After graduation, he lived in France and England for three years writing, performing music in local clubs and recording an album of original songs. Upon his return to Chapel Hill, he became the managing owner of Cat's Cradle, establishing the now legendary music club over the next eleven years as a premier venue for local as well as national and international touring acts. During the last twenty years, he has released five original recordings on the Moonlight Records label including "Tamarindo Sunset: Postcards from Costa Rica", "Love, Loss and Other Four-Letter Words" and, most recently, "Christmastime on Chestnut Street". He has one previously published book, "Armando and La Baula", a cautionary ecological tale about a young Costa Rican boy and an aging female Leatherback turtle. Mr. Robert divides his time between the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica and the North Carolina towns of Beaufort and Chapel Hill, where he has been known to frequent The Dead Mule Club.
