Dan Krager is formerly Manager of Information Systems, HIPAA Officer, and HIPAA Security Officer for Richland Memorial Hospital. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He is a certified network engineer with Novell Systems, Cisco systems, and Linux, with over 15 years of experience in computer and network applications for hospital settings. As HIPAA officer and HIPAA security officer, Dan enabled Richland Memorial Hospital to move toward compliance. He worked closely with Illinois Hospital Association to build a statewide infrastructure that enables health care organizations to interconnect electronically. As that infrastructure has matured, it has changed the way health care information is exchanged. Working with his wife Carole, Dan has authored two successful books about HIPAA and hopes this new edition will be as useful as the previous. Though Dan is now officially retired to his wood shop, he always keeps an eye open for changes in health care law. See less
