Cyprian Norwid

Cyprian Norwid was born in 1821 near Warsaw. Largely self-taught, at 21 he left Poland and travelled around Europe befriended by Chopin among others and America. Dogged by financial crises, he died in a hostel for Polish insurrection veterans in Ivry in 1883.
