Cynthia L. Uline, PhD, is a professor of educational leadership at San Diego State University. She previously served as an assistant and associate professor of educational administration at the Ohio State University from 1995 to 2005. Uline codirects San Diego State's doctoral program in educational leadership and serves as executive director of the National Center for the 21st Century Schoolhouse. The center supports the planning and design of learner-centered schools through communication, research, and training. Uline's research explores the influence of built learning environments on students' learning, as well as the role educational leaders, teachers, and the community play in shaping these learning spaces. Other areas of research include school leadership for learning and school reform and improvement. She has written articles for Educational Administration Quarterly, Journal of Educational Administration, Teachers College Record, The Journal of School Leadership, Journal of Education for Students Placed at Risk, Theory Into Practice, The Journal of Research and Development in Education, and The International Journal of Leadership in Education. She has coauthors several books, including Building a Professional Community and Teaching Practices From America's Best Urban Schools. See less
