Craig Martin Getz was born in Willingboro, New Jersey in 1964. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Humanities at California State University, Northridge, studying a year abroad at the Universidad Compultense in Madrid. He left Los Angeles for Barcelona in 1989. He has been an English teacher at a large private school since 1995.
