He has been a firefighter for over 20 years and is an adjunct instructor with the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Training Center in Lansing, Michigan. He has extensive experience involving hazardous materials chemistry including a Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology and biological chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and 15 years research experience in the biomedical sciences.
