Carlton B Smith

Smith was Professor of History at James Madison University, and an authority on the life of the President after whom the school is named. He was a member of the Organization of American Historians, the Southern Historical Association, and the Society of Historians of the Early American Republic. He was selected as the 1987 Madison Scholar by the faculty of James Madison University and is remembered as an outstanding teacher.
