Carl S. Bjerre is the Kaapcke Professor of Business Law at the University of Oregon School of Law, specializing in commercial law. Carl S. Bjerre is the Kaapcke Professor of Business Law at the University of Oregon School of Law, specializing in commercial law. Active in national and international modernization projects, Professor Bjerre is a member of the Permanent Editorial Board for the Uniform Commercial Code, the Uniform Law Commission, and the American Law Institute. He was a member of the United States delegation for the negotiation of the Geneva Securities Convention and was closely involved with the United States ratification of the Hague Securities Convention. At Oregon Law, he teaches courses ranging from first-year Contracts through Advanced UCC as well as a seminar in Law and Language. Prior to becoming a professor, Bjerre practiced transactional finance law for six years with the multinational law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York City. A native of Los Angeles, California, he earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Cornell Law School and clerked for U.S. District Judge Charles P. Sifton. See less
