In addition to numerous book reviews and papers, he also has five books on-line: The Moebius Strip, Lab Rats, Forbidden knowledge, The Gadfly, and Black Swans and White Tigers, Burton Porter received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, and his Ph.D. from St. Andrews University, Scotland, which includes graduate study at Oxford University, England. He has been on the faculty of various institutions such as Russell Sage College, the University of Maryland (Europe), and Drexel University, and he has served as a Department Chair and Dean of Arts and Sciences. He taught at Mount Holyoke College as Visiting Professor of Philosophy, and he is presently on the faculty at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts. He received the award of Outstanding Educator of America and the Faculty Research Award from his institution. He lives in Amherst, MA, with his wife Barbara, and has two children, Mark and Ana, and a stepdaughter, Sarah. In addition to writing, his interests include music, tennis, wine, and reading books that are valuable - even if they are no longer valued. See less
