Bryan Bardine is a tenured professor in the Department of English at the University of Dayton (Ohio, United States). His research interests for the past decade have focused on metal studies, particularly metal scenes and cultures, and lyrical analysis of extreme metal bands. He teaches courses in metal studies, horror and gothic literature, film studies, composition and American literature. He has co-edited three anthologies on metal studies: Cultural Connections on Metal: Unity in Disparity (Intellect, 2017), Living Metal: Metal Scenes around the World (Intellect, 2023) and Heavy Metal Studies and Popular Culture (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016). He also co-edited a collection called On Extremity: From Music to Images, Words, and Experiences (Lexington Books, 2023).
