Bruce Buckingham spent seven years as an aid to a newly elected Florida Congressman. Working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., he was a senior legislative assistant tracking legislation having to do with NASA, the armed services and international affairs. During this time Buckingham witnessed firsthand the inside workings of the U.S. Congress - the good and, unfortunately, the not so good. Several years later, he decided to move back to his home on the east coast of Florida taking a job at NASA's Kennedy Space Center as News Chief and primary spokesman for the Agency at KSC. In his role as the "voice of NASA launch control" for the U.S. Space Shuttle Program and other NASA expendable rocket launches, he was NASA's front man for the media during high-profile events such as the Columbia accident (2003), the subsequent investigations, and return-to-flight activities. (He served as KSC's photo editor during the Challenger accident in 1986.) Buckingham earned his private pilot's license at the age of 20 and has traveled extensively through Europe and the Caribbean. He is married to Michele, also a former congressional assistant. They have two grown children, Scott and Kimberly. Buckingham retired from NASA early in 2013 and lives in Palm Bay, Florida, where he writes full time and manages a ministry-based website and non-profit corporation dedicated to the works of his late father, pastor and writer Jamie Buckingham. The Last Snowman in Paris is Buckingham's first novel. For more about Buckingham, go to http: //bbuckingham321.wix.com/brucebuckingham See less
