As Chief Learning Officer of the world's largest express transportation company, Bob Bennett understands the imperative role employees and leaders play in the strategic success of a company. Prior to retirement, his responsibilities included defining the role of Human Resources for FedEx Express and providing strategic and tactical direction for the development and execution of programs for continuous learning and growth for its 150,000 employees in over 220 countries and territories world-wide. With an engineering background and extensive experience in global operations, Bob has a real world perspective and deep respect for the effect employees and corporate culture have on a company's bottom line and the responsibilities of management in this area. Under his leadership, FedEx nurtured a culture of People-Service-Profit, a belief that if you take care of your people, they will provide outstanding service and profits will follow. He has carried his passion for leadership and culture to Achieve-LLC, his new company dedicated to leadership development and organizational effectiveness. Through Bob's guidance, FedEx Express created stronger employee focus through employee loyalty surveys, prescriptive coaching, market-based management programs and enhanced HR metrics. During his tenure, FedEx consistently ranked on Fortunate Magazine's list of the "World's Most Admired Companies' and was ranked 5th on the Great Place to Work Institute's 2011 list of the World's Best Multinational Workplaces. A passionate advocate for expanding the role of HR from "bricklayer to architect," especially in the area of leadership development, Bob was instrumental in establishing the FedEx talent management program to assess high performance and high potential employees. He also integrated strategic workforce planning with employee development, talent management, talent review, performance management and succession planning, creating a clear roadmap to business success through human capital management. A native New Yorker, Bob earned bachelor's and master's degrees in Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and a master's degree in business administration from Bernard Baruch College at the City University of New York. He is a keynote speaker, featured in many industry articles, and an author. Bob serves on many community boards.
