Bill Zima began his career as a zoo educator, creating and delivering learning opportunities for students in their schools and guests at the Phoenix Zoo and Disney's Animal Kingdom. Bill Zima began his career as a zoo educator, creating and delivering learning opportunities for students in their schools and guests at the Phoenix Zoo and Disney's Animal Kingdom. Seeking something that was a bit more dynamic, he became a 7th grade science teacher. He is currently a middle school principal. Bill is also an original member of the Maine Cohort for Customized Learning, an organization dedicated to the promotion of learner-centered, proficiency-based education systems in Maine. He also serves as a board member for the Maine Association for Middle Level Education. Bill's past life experiences, never being afraid to take a chance, as well as research in neuroscience and education continue to convince him in the power of the mind when the learner is allowed to seek his or her own understanding.
