I am Barbara Lowe a volunteer with the Jackson Public Schools in Jackson, MS. My work with elementary school children of native African ancestry required that I write teaching books. These children need to be taught their African and American heritage so that they might appreciate what it means to be an American. I hope the content of my books will inspire these children to embrace their African heritage and all that it implies - the darkness of their skin, kinkiness of their hair, and the distinctive facial features of their African ancestors. Once they embrace their heritage, I hope they will be motivated to be the best of the best in American Society. I hope they will become all those people who make civilizations great. See less
