B B Mohanty obtained his Ph.D. degree in Sociology from Sambalpur University in 1993. He taught in undergraduate colleges of Orissa for five years (1992-97). He joined as a Lecturer in Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, in 1997 and subsequently was promoted as a Reader in 2001. B B Mohanty obtained his Ph.D. degree in Sociology from Sambalpur University in 1993. He taught in undergraduate colleges of Orissa for five years (1992-97). He joined as a Lecturer in Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, in 1997 and subsequently was promoted as a Reader in 2001. Presently, he is working as a Professor in the Department of Sociology, Pondicherry University, Puducherry, since 2006. He has published many research articles in journals of international and national repute. He has visited the USA, UK, France, Canada, Sweden and Sri Lanka on academic assignments.
