Attilia Dorigato has been a co-ordinator of the Venice City Museums Authority, with particular responsibility for the Print and Drawings collections at the Museum Correr and the Glass Museum on Murano. She has organised numerous exhibitions - both in Italy and abroad - which have made an important contribution to spreading knowledge of the history of Murano glass from the Renaissance right up to the present day. Since the 1981 exhibition One Thousand Years of Venetian Glass, her special area of study has been the work produced by the local Murano glass makers, without however ignoring the contribution made by contemporary artists working in the medium, figures such as Yoichi Ohira, Massimo Nordio, Maria Grazia Rosin and Laura de Santillana, for each of whom she has organised exhibitions and edited catalogues. Her interest in contemporary glass making also leads her beyond the Venetian lagoon to look at how the medium is beginning used by artists throughout the world, a wide-ranging curiosity that has resulted in her organising two large, international exhibitions of glass work in Venice in 1996 and 1998 under the title Venezia aperto vetro.
