Imam Asad Zaman is a distinguished leader in the Islamic movement, youth development, interfaith programming, and nonprofit leadership. Imam Asad Zaman is a distinguished leader in the Islamic movement, youth development, interfaith programming, and nonprofit leadership. He is Executive Director and Imam with the Muslim American Society of Minnesota. He co-founded the Minnesota Rabbi Imam Round Table and has co hosted it since 2011. He has provided training to hundreds of police officers serving in various police departments. In 2005, he co-founded the Muslim Day at the Capitol. This model of civic engagement and advocacy has been replicated in many other states and at the nation's Capitol. Imam Asad is active in interfaith activities and has trained a Speakers Bureau to deliver presentations at churches, synagogues, corporate and government offices. He has chaired the MAS Minnesota convention several times. In 2005, he was appointed by the Governor to the Minnesota Board of Teaching. Upon confirmation by the Minnesota senate, he served on it until 2009. He was previously a Hubert Humphrey policy fellow at the University of Minnesota. Imam Asad regularly delivers Juma Khutbas, lectures and presentations at various Masjids, universities and churches. He is a frequent speaker at Islamic conferences and Islam Awareness Weeks at local and national settings. He conducts fundraisers each year for several Islamic causes. Imam Asad holds Ijazah (certificates) in dozens of classical texts in Hadith, Fiqh and Akidah.
