In 2015 he was awarded both the Annette and Jim McConnell History Educator Award and the 2015 Michigan Council for the Social Studies Elementary Teacher of the Year. He has developed a unit of study to introduce students to Michigan's automotive history with a series of lessons and hands on activities focusing on the Model T and the early assembly line. He sometimes uses his half scale Model T to do school presentations on this topic as well as having presented at state and national conferences. He has presented his programs to thousands of students in school programs and has taught over 1,000 students in his classroom during his career. Outside his involvement in education, Arthur has been involved in many areas of his church and he also serves as chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee for Kinross Township.
