Armando S. Bevelacqua is a retired, 35-year veteran of fire service. Armando S. Bevelacqua is a retired, 35-year veteran of fire service. The former Chief of Special Operations, Homeland Security and Medical Command for the Orlando Fire Department, he is also an adjunct instructor for the National Fire Academy, a W.M.D./Haz-Mat instructor for the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and a fire and E.M.S. instructor for local colleges. The 2010 recipient of the "in the Zone" and "Level A" awards for service and leadership, Mr. Bevelacqua serves on several federal, state, and local committees, and is a member of the Inter-Agency Board (I.A.B.) for training and exercise development. He is a Technical Consultant and contributor to standards committees, including the N.F.P.A. 472 and N.F.P.A. 473 Technical Committees, and a frequent presenter on the issues of Technical Rescue, E.M.S., and Hazardous Materials and Management. Mr. Bevelacqua has published articles on a variety of subjects, including E.M.S. report writing and Emergency Medical Responses to Hazardous Materials Incidents, along with the Hazardous Materials Field Guide and Terrorism Handbook for Operational Responders.
