Aricka Alexander (Born April 4th, 1996) started to become interested in books at the young age of 9 when her 4th grade class had to read "The Cay" by Theodore Taylor and "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry" by Mildred Taylor in 5th grade. Her love of books only increased when she entered middle school. She began to check out multiple books at a time from the local public library around the corner from her house. Around that time, she became interested in poetry and has written over 60 poems between the ages of 11 and 14. In ninth grade, she came across the Kimani TRU series and found one of her favorite books to this date: "Indigo Summer" by Monica McKayhan. At the age of 15, she decided to write her own teen fiction novel about a new girl in a new city as she ventured through 10th grade as well. It took her 6 1/2 months to finish the story entitled "Making The Best of It." (East Kennedy High Series) At the same time, she wrote a short story entitled "Bleu Grove Manner." (Bleu Grove Manner Series) Both are currently available on Amazon and Kindle. Now, at the age of 18, she is polishing up her current story "Saving Spring." (It's an African American Teen Thriller-Romance.) She is also writing the second books for the East Kennedy High Series and the Bleu Grove Manner Series. See less
