Antonio de Villegas (Medina del Campo, Valladolid, c. 1522-c. 1551). Espana. Junto con Gregorio Silvestre y otros discipulos de Cristobal de Castillejo se opuso a las tendencias italianizantes de la poesia de su epoca. Escribio obras en verso y en prosa, reunidas en Inventario (1565), que incluye la Historia del Abencerraje y la hermosa Jarifa, primera novela morisca, escrita hacia 1551 (cuya autoria no todos atribuyen a Villegas).
