His research has focused on the transformation that occurred in the countryside of South-Eastern Sicily between the Hellenistic and late antiquity periods. For several years he worked for IBAM-CNR, focusing on the material culture of the Roman age. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and monographs concerning urban archaeology, landscape archaeology, material culture and networks between the Roman Republic and the Middle Ages.
