Anton De Kom
Cornelis Gerard Anton de Kom was a Surinamese resistance fighter. His only book, We Slaves of Suriname, made him a prominent anti-colonialist author. He was part of the Dutch resistance and the Communist Party in The Hague after the German occupation of the Netherlands in 1940. He died after being sent to a German concentration camp in 1945.
