Raised in western and central Massachusetts, Ann Hall grew up playing in the woods that surrounded her childhood homes. After graduating from Smith College with a degree in biology, she moved to Boston to take up a career in finance, but after several years immigrated to England. She attended the University of Sheffield and began working in communications, remaining in Yorkshire for five years before returning to the United States. She now works as a writer at Harvard University. Ann Hall's writing is as influenced by her travels in the US and in Europe as by the woods she roamed growing up. Her first novel, Damaged Goods, had its genesis in a visit to a Scottish castle. As the book took shape, she decided to include details reminiscent of the forests that were her childhood playgrounds. A chapter from Damaged Goods appeared in the Harvard Summer Review. Ann Hall lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her husband and son. See less
