Andrey Vavilov, Ph.D., a career diplomat, was posted at Russian embassies in India, UK, Switzerland and Kenya. Trained initially in oriental languages and translation, he served as top interpreter and note taker for a succession of Russian leaders in their encounters with world figures, including Presidents Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. Andrey Vavilov, Ph.D., a career diplomat, was posted at Russian embassies in India, UK, Switzerland and Kenya. Trained initially in oriental languages and translation, he served as top interpreter and note taker for a succession of Russian leaders in their encounters with world figures, including Presidents Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. He was involved as negotiator in arms control, UN affairs and environmental policy. He did research at the Diplomatic Academy (Moscow) and consulted the International Institute for Sustainable Development (Winnipeg and New York). He authored several books on disarmament and the environment, in particular the negotiating history of the Environmental Modification Convention. He lives in Moscow and lectures on sustainable development and the art high-level interpretation and note taking. See less
