André Daigneault was born in Montréal in the working-class neighborhood of Saint-Henri. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Verdun and finished High School at the Richard school. Having a rather sickly childhood, he became an indefatigable reader: novels, poetry, psychology - everything interested him. He worked for a few years at Seagram while taking courses at Montréal University in poetry and literature, participated in a theater group, and published his first poems at the age of nineteen. André Daigneault has had diversified commitments for most of his life. Early on, he was Editor-in-Chief at the magazine Je Crois, a consecrated layman and priest since 1982, an animator for several years of La Rencontre Movement, a preacher and counselor, a talented poet and writer, and he has a rather special gift as a popularizer. After having been assistant-director and director-general of the secular Institute Pius X, he now devotes himself mainly to the direction of retreats, as well as meetings with individuals, and to writing.
