In 2011, Alvin wrote Basic Accounting Simplified, an award winning primer for beginning and struggling accounting students. The following year, he wrote Memories of the Catskills: The Making of a Hotel, an award winning memoir about the rise and fall of the "Borscht Belt" in New York's Catskill Mountains. Lesser Lodge, a small hotel started by his mother and father where the author spent the better part of his childhood, lies at the center of this heartfelt tale.
