Alexandra George is an author, international journalist, translator and trilingual international communications specialist with over 15 years experience in international organizations (UN, EU and OSCE) working in press and public affairs. Postings include the Balkans (Bosnia and Kosovo), Russia, Ukraine, Caucasus, Central Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and East and West Africa. Her books include Escape from Ward Six: Russia Facing Past and Present (UPA, Md., 1998) and she also has numerous publications and published translated works, including Velasquez (Parksktone/Aurora, 1996) and Moscow Times, Moscow, op eds. As a journalist she previously reported from South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. She was Assistant Editor/Far East for the Economist Intelligence Unit, London, and the Regional Southeast Asia correspondent for Business International/The Economist Group, based in Bangkok. She reported for the Financial Times Middle East Markets and her articles have appeared in the Financial Times, Economist Development Report, Far Eastern Economic Review, Guardian, Le Monde Diplomatique and Spectator.
