Alexander MacLaren

Alexander Maclaren (1826-1910) was born in Glasgow and educated at Glasgow University, Stepney College, and the University of London. He began his ministry the year after he received his BA and developed a reputation as an attractive and powerful preacher. Maclaren received honorary degrees of divinity from the Universities of both Edinburgh and Glasgow. He was twice president of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and president of the Baptist World Congress held in London in 1905.
