Albert Maysles

Albert and the late David Maysles are pioneers of documentary filmmaking. In the early 1960s, they were at the forefront of a radical new method called direct cinema, in which hand-held cameras and lightweight sound equipment allowed an immediacy and spontaneity uniquely suited to non-fiction subjects. Their filmography includes "Gimme Shelter, Salesman, and "Grey Gardens.
