Alana Conner, PhD, is the senior editor of the "Stanford Social Innovation Review", a quarterly publication of the Stanford Graduate School of Business that presents new ideas for social change to nonprofit, business, and government leaders. Dr. Conner earned her PhD in social psychology at Stanford University, where she studied how ethnic and class cultures shape people's notions of who they are and why they do the things they do. As a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, San Francisco medical center, she expanded her research to explore the cultural grounding of health and disease. She then applied her knowledge as a senior research associate at Sociometrics Corporation, where she helped create Web-based products about HIV/AIDS and its prevention. In addition to working her day jobs, Conner has written about social science and health for National Geographic Television, the "New York Times Magazine", "Static", and other venues. She is currently authoring a book about cultural psychology. See less
