Embry Burrus grew up in Columbus, Georgia and currently lives in Opelika, Alabama. For the past fourteen years, she worked in the Department of Communication Disorders at Auburn University as a clinical supervisor in speech pathology, and is now a full-time caregiver for her older sister, Margaret, who has Down syndrome.
