This is the story of the founding of Waupaca County, Wisconsin, using real-life individuals including Zebulon and Betsy Lamphear, the great-grandparents of the author, Palmer Myhra. The story is set in the 1800s when people were moving west to settle new lands. The Lamphears left New York and traveled to Wisconsin to settle in what is now known as the town of Lind, located just south of the city of Waupaca. The story is based on fact, with some experiences taken from the author's imagination.
