'You said I killed you - haunt me, then!' Wuthering Heights is one of the most famous love stories in the English language. It is also one of the most potent revenge narratives. The intense and unbreakable bond between the fiery Catherine Earnshaw and the foundling Heathcliff has startled and fascinated readers since its first publication in 1847. Of uncertain parentage and ethnicity, Heathcliff comes to Wuthering Heights as a child when Catherine's father finds him wandering alone through the slave-trading port of Liverpool. After Mr Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff and Catherine find refuge in each other when the household falls into the hands of Catherine's dissolute older brother. Their bond deepens as they escape together from the violence and stern religion of their home to the Yorkshire moors. But the story of Catherine and Heathcliff's attachment transforms from intimacy to strife when Catherine marries the refined Edgar Linton. The ensuing story of violence and thwarted passion is one of the most powerful tales of the gothic tradition, a literary mode from which Emily Bront??? wrings all of its terrifying potential. A regional novel with a global reach, a work of sensational effects with a startling ethical core, Wuthering Heights is both a romantic melodrama and wrenching study of the difficulty of escaping from the legacies of violence. This edition reproduces the authoritative Clarendon text, with revised and expanded notes and a selection from the poems of Emily Bront???.

Seller's Description:
Good. No dust jacket. About The Book: -Introduction and Notes by John S. Whitley, University of Sussex. Wuthering Heights is a wild, passionate story of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine`s father. After Mr Earnshaw`s death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine`s brother Hindley and wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as a wealthy and polished man. He proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries. The action of the story is chaotic and unremittingly violent, but the accomplished handling of a complex structure, the evocative descriptions of the lonely moorland setting and the poetic grandeur of vision combine to make this unique novel a masterpiece of English literature. -> the publisher of this PAPERBACK book is Arrow Books Ltd in 2000 booksalvation have grade it as Good and it will be shipped from our UK warehouse The text is in English.

this book is so amazeballs omg
I was really hesitant to read this book because I read Jane Eyre in sophomore year and hated it, and I expected this to be very similar.
BUT IT'S NOT.
Emily's writing style included a lot less superfluous details than Charlotte's did, and the gothic elements actually did frighten me. The language was comparatively easier to understand, and I haven't been able to put the book down since I started.
It does begin kinda slow, but [[SPOILER ALERT idk should I even have a spoiler alert? anyway]] once Lockwood had his nightmares about Catherine, everything began picking up.
10/10 would read again and recommend

A must-have novel for every shelf!
I'll admit that I almost missed out on discovering what a great book this was when it was assigned for an English class, because I couldn't get in to the story. However, as my teacher went over what had happened in the chapters I was supposed to have read, curiosity took hold of me and I began to read it on my own. I was quickly enamored, and Wuthering Heights is now one of my favorite books of all time!
I definitely recommend this book to everyone, but I also recommend that weaker readers go through the book with a stronger reader (or a guide) and map out characters, lineage, etc. the first time - otherwise you may miss out on all the lovely subtleties and other elements that make this one of the greatest stories ever! Once you understand who is who and what is what, the book becomes much easier to understand, and you can better appreciate the story each time you read it again!

Overrated and Depressing
I cannot believe the hype that goes along with this so-called "classic" and one on so many must-read lists. Cruel, depressing story about anything but real love. Obsession at it's worst. They don't just write drivel now, this book is proof that started long ago.
