As our narrator leads us along the winding path of her spiritual development, we discover the origins of obscure religious movements, the pitfalls and highlights of communal living, and the importance of remaining true to one's personal beliefs. Offering an insider's view of what an outsider might call a "cult," Written On The Doorpost recaptures and helps define some incredible moments from the beginning to the end of the religious movement known simply as "The Move." Her close relationship to one of the movements central figures helps humanize the motivations of leadership in community and sheds light on the symbiosis of leaders and followers. Ultimately, though, this is a love story: a story about a man who pulled himself through arial combat to make it home to his one true love, a story about the devotion wives bestow upon their husbands to help them realize their dreams, a story about the love a leader holds for his people, and the story about the love of those people for their God.
