Seller's Description:
Very Good Plus. No Jacket. 12mo-over 6¾"-7¾" tall. Brennan-Whitmore (1886-1977), a member of the Irish Volunteers, was interned in Wales following the Uprising. His prior British military service led to turning the prison camp into a training facility for the Irish prisoners. Unfortunately, he later joined the Blueshirts and became a fascist organiozer during the 1930s. One judgement of his character: "Never trust a hyphenated Irishman." Still, he remains an important historical source. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First Edition. A scarce title. Green paper-covered boards with a tan linen spine; paper label on the spine. The front cover has an illustration representing a cell door, with the titling in black. Clean text; xi, 211 pages, with a one-page publisher's advert in the rear. Frontis photograph of Adjutant Whitmore. Light soil, with some rubbing at the margins; the paper spine label has been chipped, with some loss. No dustwrapper; in an archival plastic protector.
