I really enjoyed this book about a young boy finding out about life just prior to the Civil War. He is torn between his father's abolitionism and what he learns when he is in the South visiting. It is interesting to follow his adventures with the underground railroad.
The book was reminiscent of some parts of Gone with the Wind and Uncle Tom's Cabin.
I didn't want the story to stop; I wanted to keep reading through the Civil War days and after. So I'm predicting that a sequel is in the works or should be! Readers will want to know how the love interest evolves.
