I grew up reading Louis L'Amour, so I'm picky when it comes to Westerns. I want to hear the leather creak, smell the horses and feel the wind on my face. "Where the Wind Blows" gave me all of these things and more. I cared about the characters from the first page. The settings felt true, the descriptions rich without being overly done. As I moved through the hopes and disappointments of the lead characters, I found myself caught up in their world. A romance with a sensual undertone but no cheap shots, it's a delight. It reminded me of "Will Penny" in its unexpected romance. While not an overtly Christian novel, it has decidedly inspirational themes. Carolyn Fyffe is an author to watch.
