Very Good+ Chromolithographs and lithographs; Large 8vo 9"-10" tall; Presumed 1st edition. Soundly bound in original chromolithograph illustrated, glazed paper covered boards with unlettered green cloth backed spine. Color plate Victorian era children's book features 16 full-page chromolithographs, 8 in-text chromolithographs and about 20 in-text sepia toned chromos. Verse text by Mack and designs by Bennett. An exquisite example of late 19th century chromolithography in children's trade books. Trace rubbing to board edges but with a light shelf bump to the lower front corners and mild break to the paper at the lower tips. A few superficial gaps between signatures. Tissue guards presumably removed by original owner to enable easier reading. Handsome copy missing tissue guards but generally VG+
