One of BEST about VN
The book AND movie show the real heroes most of soldiers in VN were, instead of vast majority of garbage from media and Hollywood. By all means ALL Americans should see the movie.

This is Vietnam
It was November, 1965 and only Twenty years post WWII, however, this was Vietnam and a different war. We Were Soldiers Once And Young, written by Lt. Gen. Harold G. Moore and journalist Joseph Galloway, tells the story of the battle of la Drang. It is considered to be the first major United States battle in Vietnam and the battle that forever changed the "face" of war. As a reader, when you begin the book, you find a list consisting of the names of each man who was lost during the battle. Although the Vietnam War was fought in an era when technology allowed easy access to live coverage of battle, reading this book will impart a vivid impact of that war. Moore and Galloway give a gripping, fist clinching account of that three day battle in which men fought with courage, sacrificing self for others. This is a powerful and emotional read.
