Some of the original sources for this history book are the diaries of Southern civilians. These people were almost entirely devout Christians who were taught "fire and brimstone" sermons from childhood. They believed that to "bear false witness against thy neighbor" would surely send them to hell. Would they knowingly write lies in their own hand writing? Would they change the words the Black slaves asked them to write down for them? Would they bear false witness against their brethren? Never. The accounts in this book "War Crimes Against Southern Civilians" are, I believe, true and accurate based upon my understanding of the faith of the people of the Appalachian region. Other sources used in the book are unimpeachable. You will remain clueless about American History if you miss this essential history book.
