This is a wonderful book for anyone doing research or writing historical ficiton about a pre-1860 Paris such as I am doing. Leonard Pitt's Introduction is priceless, as it explains the history of what Paris was like before Hausmann's controversial transformation .
The book is divided into four self-guided walking sections with maps showing the changes from the old narrow streets to the transformed boulevards. I can hardly wait to see Paris with "old" eyes.
