In The Vulcan Academy Murders, Captain Kirk investigates the deaths of two people who were undergoing medical treatment on the planet Vulcan. Recognizing that a pattern is emerging, he becomes concerned that Amanda (wife of Sarek and mother of Spock) will become the next target. Thus begins a quest for the murderer with the goal of saving Amanda in a fast-moving detective story. I did like this book as it was true to the Star Trek original series and had the feel of a feature-length movie; the book also refers to the episodes Amok Time, Journey to Babel, and This Side of Paradise; we also learn about the back story of the marriage of Sarek and Amanda and Spock's childhood as well. In short, The Vulcan Academy Murders is a great Star Trek story and does not disappoint.

Intriguing!
An interesting murder-mystery from the Star Trek realm. The characters sometimes feel a little "out-of-character" as far as how they are presented in the TV series, but it is still a good read! The setting is the planet Vulcan, which allows for some off-ship storylines. A nice overall book, though!
