A GOOD READ FOR PEOPLE WHO LOVE MAUI
This book, especially the first essays on Passion for Maui and Living Aloha, made me as a frequent visitors understand that I too have a passion and love of aloha. The concept of aloha and example of people who live it increased my understanding on how this wonderful culture is and its people are. As an historian, I also enjoyed the essays on how the historic sites were preserved as well as the brief histories of the kings and queens, missionaries and sugar barons.
Knowing something about Queen Kaahumanu, and as a woman, I was also struck by the author calling her Hawaii's first feminist. This was a great way to end my visit on the plane leaving Maui. I will definitely be back.
