Though the music ranges from the approachable tonality of Vaughan Williams' Romance and Clarke's Lullaby and Grotesque, to touches of polytonality in Luening's Suite and Bartókian chromaticism in Lutoslawski's Bucolics, not one of the pieces ventures into dodecaphony or avant-garde experimentalism, so the program is perfectly accessible to a wide audience.
