Researchers from all faculties at the University of Siegen have dedicated themselves to this topic by setting it against the background of their research. The possible perspectives on 'diversity' and the discussions concerning the processes of differentiation are taken from numerous different disciplines - philosophy, historical science, educational science, computer science, social sciences, natural sciences, political science, jurisprudence, linguistics, media studies, engineering, fine arts and musicology, economics etc. - and outlined within the context of myriad hypotheses: the discourse on the topic of diversity focuses substantively on interaction, synergy and utility. The boundaries of 'diversity as an opportunity' are also explored.
