Vaughan Williams's gives Blake's seemingly naïve but actually profound poems perhaps too coy vocal melodies and possibly too cunning oboe accompaniments, and those without sympathy for the faux-bucolic conceit may find the Blake Songs affected.But even they may be convinced by these performances by Ian Partridge and the Music Group of London. No weak-kneed English tenor, Partridge is a robust though not insensitive tenor who lives and breathes the music as much as he sings and performs it....
