Thinly told anecdotes about Fresno and the San Joaquin Valley. As a former Fresnan now living in New York City, I found the book enjoyable as I rode the subway to work. Certainly not for anyone who wants to learn in depth about the history of the Valley, but amusing for anyone from there just to get some nice tidbits about the city that doesn't do much to promote its history. I think the author Mark Arax should be the one to write an extensive history on the city.
