Much of the story is based upon the eyewitness testimony of surviving freedom fighter Simha "Kazik" Rotem, portrayed in the film by Stephen Moyer. You really couldn't have a more dedicated film on the subject, anything else would simply be drawing away from the basic facts of the story into realms of unnecessary nonsense. Still the movie and the documentary are entertaining and informative. Not the movie for you if you want a superfluous love story like in a lot of war movies and historical pieces. Yes, it is always weird to see David Schwimmer in a serious role. That never goes away, but he plays his part well.
